2016 Meets 2017: Past and Present

– Written by Jason B –

2016 was a very interesting year. The Cubs ended their 108-Year drought. The Cavaliers made history by becoming the first team to overcome a 3-1 game deficit to win the NBA Championship. Brexit happened.  An unpredicted U.S. Presidential Election. Pokemon Go. Leonardo DiCaprio finally won an Oscar. Finding Dory and Deadpool were released.

2016 was personally an exciting year for my life. It was my first full year as a Moishe House Resident. I travelled to a few new countries – Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, and more. I reconnected with a friend of 3+ years and that I can now call my girlfriend. I was able to expand my knowledge with amazing life experiences and personal friendships. I have enjoyed planning 80+ events, this year alone (with Moishe House) – to help further cultivate and develop Jewish community within NYC. All in all, 2016 was a year of personal introspection and exploration, and I can say that it has been a very positive year in my life.

What can we look forward to for this upcoming year – 2017? It will be a year of new beginnings, fresh starts, and more opportunities to find your community. When we reflect on the past year, we can smile at all of our positive memories and recommit ourselves to making new ones. Who’s excited for the Second Ave Subway, Pitch Perfect 3, that upcoming Drake album, and the next JSwipe extravaganza? Whether you’re going to be looking for new friends or creating new memories with old friends in the coming year, JewYorkSocial is here to help you discover all of the YJP (Young Jewish Professionals) events New York has to offer.
